Dissecting Grey's Anatomy into 5 Great PartsChances are, if you are as into the hottest medical drama of the right-now as I am, you should already sorta know why you love it. But love is such an elusive thing, so hard to put in words, so difficult to explain, that you might not know even exactly why Grey's Anatomy seizes your heart and sends it into such a frenzy it nearly suffers cardiac arrest...
I, a tv-watching intern, shall stand before you, imaginary scalpel in latex-gloved hand, and try to dissect and delve into the many reasons we would hyperventilate at the sight of McDreamy and his blue-clothed posse. Grey's Anatomy, on the surface:
A bunch of haggard-looking, hair-tousled, scrub-donning (albeit rather attractive) medical interns running around a hospital set most of the time. * * *
Grey's Anatomy, underneath all that, houses 5 GREAT reasons why we wouldn't mind the occasional blood-splattering scenes:
5. THE PLOT
It's dark and twisty, just like Meredith. It's warm and fuzzy and sweet, just like Izzie and George's friendship. It's sexy and ooh-la-la, just like the Derek-Meredith/Izzie-Alex Mark-Addison clandestine moments. It has everything you need, want and crave for. It is real, no, HYPER-real. It is larger than life, it's like forcibly putting your eye over the microscope looking over life, poking into the minor details and blowing them way out of proportions to tug at your vulnerable heartstrings. It has its fair share of ups and downs. It contains mini bombs and two-hour-special-climaxes. It's mind-blowingly heart-stopping. 4. THE CHARACTERS
There's someone for everyone. Meredith Grey - the weird, moody, dark, hot chick. Izzie Stevens - the beauty queen/control freak. George O'Malley - the sensitive new age man/the best guy friend. Cristina Yang - the inert, brusque, emotionless, focused overachiever. Alex Karev - the cute yet insensitive, scruffy take-it-easy guy. Derek Shepherd - the dreamily gorgeous, talented heartbreaker. Preston Burke - the cool, calm, collected intelligent man. Miranda Bailey - the super-efficient Mafia boss with a maternal charm. Everyone identifies with at least a little piece or two of one or many of them. Their insecurities and their flaws are real. And we love it because we wish we could embrace it and thrash it around as well as they did.
3. THE SOUNDTRACK
I could feel my blood flowing against its flow, my lungs nearly collapsing, my brain feeling a little woozy...almost..
The songs are modern and up-to-date yet tinged with an individualistic flavour thanks to their less-than-mainstream origins. It explores interesting obscure genres like electronica (Goldfrapp, Peter Bjorn and John), folk and indie (Anya Marina, Metric, Tegan & Sara), but not forgetting pop (KT Tunstall) and alternative (Coldplay, Keane) for the music common man. 2. THE DRAMA
They speak for themselves literally. Some people claimed it gets a little dragged out and boring after a while, but this is what builds up enough suspense and content to create the next high. If it's all high-impact drama all the way, it would just be numbing to the nerves after the second season. There's the weekly ER or medical situation (major operation/strange illness/huge disaster scene) for the standard medical fare. The three-way relationship between Meredith-Derek-Addison, the sexual tension between Izzie-Alex & Izzie-George & Alex-Addison, the constantly bickering and kissing-and-making-up between Cristina and Preston, the coming-together of George & Callie and later Izzie's involvement, and other relationship/marital issues form the s-e-x in the anatomy of the show. Medicine is good for your ailments but sex sells. Nerve-racking, hilarious and spine-tingling drama.
1. THE LIFE LESSONS (aka Meredith's quotes)
Life lessons are incorporated and carefully woven into each episode and drawn out tenderly as the story unravels itself. We learn about expectations, friendship, failure, success, betrayal and recovering from hurt from Meredith, although she's probably not the best person to be dishing out such wise words. We appreciate them, because they remind us of what we've been through, they warn us of the possible consequences of our reckless actions, they act as a form of catharsis for us, they make us feel that it's okay to make mistakes and we are not alone in this world.
Now, if you're sitting there wondering what's Grey's Anatomy, run out of your cave and start watching, or you'll be missing out on the best medical treatment primetime television has ever undergone.

The Brad here is so Fight Club (the boxing stance) meets Ocean's Eleven (the bling watch) meets Se7en (the leather jacket and short not-so-blond crew cut). Blair & Chuck's Symphony : Fiendish LoveInspiration struck while watching Gossip Girl's Victor, Victrola episode. Blair and Chuck are fast becoming the IT couple on the show. Somehow, I think they look deviliciously good together. Here's my 'poetic' take on their sizzling hot scene in the limo.
Blair & Chuck's Symphony
Red hot blood coursing through the veins
Image of him, flooding all her brain In the same old place Embracing a brand new solace A familiar face
Blazing a stranger’s fiendish gaze Filthy lewd plunderers Carefree lazy sojourners Fingers, tongues and legs entwine
Under the moonlight oh so clandestine Bonnie and Clyde can close the deal tonight Cares abandoned for the soul’s delight It's Britney, Bitch.You thought this day would never come. For the Britney haters,you wished this day would never come. But alas, Britney Bitch is back! This time she has taken to embracing a new music genre: electro pop, and with much gusto, she delivered Blackout. Her first single Gimme More suffered a rather unjustified opening when Britz gave a lacklustre performance during the last VMAs. Some of her other tracks prove to be better... if you liked Maddy's Confessions on a Dancefloor and JT's FutureSex/LoveSounds, you will love Britney's Blackout. Despite all the child custody, hit-and-run and diva-fits drama, Britney is not blacking out. Not now. Gossip Girl, you know you love meI didn't read a single Gossip Girl book. It just didn't seem that appealing to me. But when the adverts for Gossip Girl's first-ever TV series popped up, coupled with the knowledge that two of its producers are O.C creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, I couldn't resist taking a peek at the trailer... It appeared to me like someone resurrected my old friend -- The O.C, and recreated it in another place, the Upper East Side of Manhattan. No longer about set in LA with her signature wealthy, spoiled yet attractive teenage socialites, it's now set in New York, unveiling the scandalous lives of a bunch of privileged prep school elites. Oh glorious, brainless, juicy drama serials! Pretty faces (don't really like the all-too-A&F-model-ish-boys) plus biting dialogues, what's not to love? Currently listening to: Fergie's Glamorous Baby's award-winning SYF Chinese Dance performance
Baby is what I affectionately call my small sister, who's 14 this year and a Chinese dancer for more than 5 years now. Here you can see her SYF performance earlier this year, which won a Gold award. Go Baby! ^_^ Lose This Boy, Don't Lose That BoyAs much as I do feel quite off about school these days, it gets a little old to keep rantng about it. Moreover, I read somewhere that constant ranting and complaining actually makes one feel worse than if one tries to do something to keep the mind off it. So talking about something on the extreme opposite end of the spectrum might make me feel better...that something, let's see, let's talk about boys.
It's strange that with so much material about relationships and dating and generally things about what girls like about boys and vice versa going around, that we still see a lot of discrepancies in the pool everyday. One reason might be, these people just really don't care. But I truly believe that at the end of the day nobody likes to be lonely, or single, that is..eventually. So why wait?
For boys who don't understand why girls don't ever notice them, start reading.
Cute boys who look cute. I'm sorry, as much as cute boys like cute girls, cute girls like cute boys more. :P
We like guys who smell good. So spray on that manly Hugo Boss scent... but not too much, we don't like walking flowerpots.
Enough about physical stuff... we girls ain't that shallow yet. :p Chivalry goes a long, long way. Believe me, we notice such things. It's programmed in us to feel a rush of warmth when guys do nice things like offering to help carry things, open doors and giving way to ladies.
Cute boys who don't know and don't think they are cute. Or at least don't act like they are the hottest creatures that crawl this earth.
Guys who make an effort to learn something. It just means that they are willing to bring down the walls of their ego and expose themselves to something they don't know and are most probably not good at. And there's the part about them concentrating on something useful and serious (other than porno mags and ESPN) ...it's really refreshing.
Guys who eat a lot. A hearty appetite = a healthy man. Need we say more?
Boys who love their moms. Not mummy's boys though. There IS a difference. And we can tell from the way you behave around and obsess about her sometimes.
Another thing, we are almost always lying when we groan we hate boys. We just hate the ones that don't obey the rules of attraction. ;-)

Clerks X: Things you never knewClerks was made for $27,575 (holy shit! considering its wide success). It's black and white. It's hugely hilarious, if you can get past the dirty talking and crude language. There's no apparent show of violence involved though, if you don't count how the nasty expletive-laced dialogue ravages your ears and contaminates your already-polluted state of mind. (I can't even count the number of times they made explicit sexual references. Don't watch if you're one to be easily offended.)
You would think, why would you want to waste your time watching such a cheaply-made and stupid movie that degrades your morals and insults your intelligence? For one, it makes for good laughs, and if you look beyond the crass punctuation of every statement with obscenities, there's a lot of meaning and common sense in what they say. And it has this tragic, ironically funny thing about Dante who technically wasn't even supposed to be at work that day.
Here's a list of words in the movie that I picked up watching it;
(you could say this movie is shit again, if you knew the exact meaning for all the words.)
catatonic - adj. characterized by a marked lack of movement, activity, or expression
semblance - n. outward and often specious appearance or show; modicum;
apparition;
image, likeness ;
actual or apparent resemblance
vilification - n. the making of false statements that damage another's reputation
syntax - n. a connected or orderly system : harmonious arrangement of parts or elements
vagary - n. an erratic, unpredictable, or extravagant manifestation, action, or notion
malaise - n. an indefinite feeling of debility or lack of health often indicative of or accompanying the onset of an illness
harbinger - n. archaic
one that pioneers in or initiates a major change : precursor
one that presages or foreshadows what is to come
perspicacity - n. (perspicacious: of acute mental vision or discernment) keenness
whimsy - n. the quality or state of being whimsical or fanciful ;
a fanciful or fantastic device, object, or creation especially in writing or art
paradigm - n. an outstandingly clear or typical example or archetype : example, pattern
denouement - n. the outcome of a complex sequence of events
embolism - n. the insertion of one or more days in a calendar ;
the sudden obstruction of a blood vessel by an embolus

Ooh look how amazing Meredith and McDreamy looked together. Drifting in the hazeIt's Mid-Autumn Festival, and on this day the full moon is at its roundest than any other full moon in the entire year. Pity there was such a thick haze wrapping around the entire city.
Went to watch The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift with RJ at the Nokia Starlight Cinema. It's our second time at this outdoor cinema event. The turnout's pretty huge, perhaps cause it's Friday night too. (Finally, we met after a suffocating fortnight of our last school term)
From where we were sitting we could see that the whole cityline was blurry and totally covered in haze. Good thing we could still see the full moon. Contrary to negative reviews of the movie, it's actually pretty engaging. Tokyo Drift had everyone hanging on the edge and staring intently with bated breath from start to end with its racing sequences. The drifting segments are undoubtedly the hightlight of the movie. Fave part of movie: Chasing through the neon-lit streets of Tokyo. (Sweet.)
There wasn't much plot to speak of, but like most other action-packed movies, nobody cares about plot honestly. Lucas Black adds to the hot factor of the show, but only until the moment he smiled, ugh, not nice at all. He's better off scowling like a total badass -- he looks like a mini version of James Denton (Mike Delfino from Desperate Housewives!).
Currently listening to: Teriyaki Boyz's Tokyo Drift (Official soundtrack to the movie) Dad's day outWent to watch Dragon Tiger Gate with Dad, since today he finally managed to get off work and come back early. Since it was a rare chance to 'hang out' with Dad and watch a movie in mandarin, it was a refreshing experience. The movie was quite exciting, contrary to the reviews that I read. Amazing action scenes, if you're totally into chinese kungfu and all those bashing against the wall, pillars crumbling to the ground etc.
The kungfu fighting sequences are reminiscent of those boxing games they have on xBox. The scenes are all splashed with bright happy colors (orange, red, green, blue!) with stunning out-of-the-world kind of force exerted by the characters in the show. And of course, Nicholas Tze is cute and that's a plus point too. Overall, the storyline is poorly developed, but honestly with that kind of action packed into it, I didn't think much about the plot, my eyes were so busy fixated on the rapid lightning punches, strikes, spinning flying kicks and the CGI effects.

What's not to love about a charming, forlorn, bittersweet romantic drama...starring the loveliest, most compatiable screen couple with the best onscreen chemistry ever... Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves! (I swear I'm not biased, I bet those half of the world's population who had watched the Speed series can say the same too) Sandra and Keanu are not to be missed!!! And together! I love them separately and together. That's how much I like them.

Girls' Day out with the maneaterManeaters make ya work hard, make ya spend hard, make ya want all of her love, she's a maneater, make ya buy cars, make ya cut cords, make ya fall, fall in love... The latest single by Nelly Furtado's ever catchy and surely a definitive ode to all the femme fatales out there... and these lyrics make a good girly shout-out to my favorite girl friends...
It's girls' day out again! Whoaa..today, the old Fantastic Four (Snowlin, Michelle, RJ and me) is out in full forca after close to 2½ years of inactivity, together that is. The ultimate crazy maneating fantastic four is on the prowl in town again, but since we haven't chatted in a gazillion eons, we hadn't got time to scope out hotties and mainly concentrated on catching up with one another and talking to us girls. I mean, the hotties can always wait when we only have few precious hours with our girls. God knows when we'll be meeting like this again..probably after the As when we throw our graduation parties. It was really really wonderful seeing the babes again, just reminded me of our good good ol' days and times. Everyone looked radiant and fab despite the hectic schedules and school stuff in between our lives these days.
Michelle's the one who walks, walks with passion,
RJ's the one who talks, talks like she can handle it Snowlin's the one who when she asks for something, she means it...even if you never ever ever seen it...
I guess I'm the one that makes the crazy people jump around...
and they all never wish they'd never never met us ever at all..
Currently listening to: (no prizes for guessing it right) Nelly Furtado's Maneater
Current obsession: Heeled sandals (clack, clack, clack...) All aboard! Lemme be ya pirate of the caribbean!Watched Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest with my classmates today (Vince, Jen, Elvin, Mo, WT, XL).
The girls particularly enjoyed the swashbuckling action but the boys hated it. I think it's because the girls have Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, but the guys only have Keira Knightley to ogle at. And her British charms ain't exactly every guy's cup of tea either.
The CGI effects are amazing, I love water effects, and the swordfighting scene between the 3 men (Will, Jack and Norrington). The part where ("Captain") Jack Sparrow was trying to escape the cannibals was extremely ticklingly funny..it's always amazing to see how the lead characters can survive all sorts of life-threatening scenarios chasing after them all the time. We all hate the ending, cause Jack and his Black Pearl got swallowed up by the humongo-jumbo octopus from the Flying Dutchman and we were left hanging to know what really happened to him (did he die? is he gonna come back in part 3?) and the last scene truly spoiled the whole movie.
All in all, the movie was enjoyable and captivating. My favorite scene was the kissing scene between Johnny and Keira. Pirate love! LOST: ana luciaUnless you are living in Stone Age and have been permanently detached from the real world, you should know what LOST is. (But then again, you have internet access! That's why you're reading this!)
The latest episode was one of the most exciting yet. I can't believe Shannon died. Ouch. They should really revise the story plot abit there. These few episodes have been lacking some Kate action, so I shifted my attention to another worthy female cast member, Michelle Rodriguez. So far, Ana Lucia (her character) has been the she-devil and the baddie in the show. Her hot-tempered and savage personality reminded me a little of myself when I get angry sometimes. And she has this fierce glint in her eyes. Can't wait to see what's going to happen to her in the upcoming episodes.
Currently listening to: The New Amsterdams' From California A modern-day heroine of my very ownYes, my modern-day heroine is none other than Angelina Jolie. Have you gotten your latest issue of TIME magazine on the 100 most influential people in the world?
Well, if you haven't, scream at your postman, or wait patiently when it's delivered to you, or go to the newsstand to grab a copy, because if you weren't an avid reader of TIME, this is one issue you shouldn't miss. Honestly
If you want me to summarize what I think about Angelina in one word, I'll truthfully say I can't, because no single word can adequately describe her influence and success in many aspects of her life till this very day. Critics may say that the great things she had done are probably for the media to shed good light on her image, but why would any celeb waste that kind of time to build a false identity, when they could just party their sorry lives away in the 'latest, hottest A-list-only nightclub in Hollywood".
3 things to die for that soon-to-be Mrs. Pitt possesses: She's beautiful, she's talented and she has a big heart.
For one, she's the hottest, most gorgeous female alive ever, with the glossiest and voluminous hair and plumpiest lips; AND she has the hottest, sexiest, most desirable, most gorgeous man (Brad Pitt) on earth wrapped around her little finger. She looks amazing on the red carpet and she has quite a couple of great movies under her belt. She is a Goodwill UN ambassador, and she visits African kids in places you would never imagine yourself to travel to, like Kenya, Nigeria and Ethiopia, and she attends talks and seminars on how to alleviate these people's sufferings and brings the media closer to their plight. She adopts her two kids (Zahara and Maddox) from Ethiopia and Cambodia, and advocates for people to start adopting poor children to give them the better life that they deserve. She doesn't have a definitive religion either, and she once said "...I don't feel like doing things just because people say things, but I also don't really know if it's better to just not believe in anything, either.." which is kind of true after all.
Now, I still can't understand that I'm actually not jealous of the fact that she's with Brad Pitt now.
For once, this is one lady who deserves the man of every girl's dreams.
